Haines Alaska News: Viewpoints
July 2, 2011, SaturdayFINALLY SOME PROGRESS! A special thanks to the workmanship of our Borough maintenance employees! Last week they arrived at the Old School, removed the old black fabric and painted the demolition side a color closely matching the remaining structure. Visually a SIGNIFICANT improvement and it only took 2 men a couple of hours to accomplish project.
Now, if we can get our Manager to focus on the remaining tasks, we can get most of the landscaping done to where our residents and visitors can actually walk on our public lands without incurring injury! Top soil and grass seed would make a huge dent in the cosmetics of public property in the heart of our downtown area.
According to our former Maintenance Forman, the whole project could be completed in about 3 days with Borough Maintenance personnel.
Tell your Assembly Member – GETR DONE!Snow may be here in 90 days and we don’t want to wake up next Spring to an ongoing “eye sore”!
Cheers
