RE: THE COMMUNITY HAS BECOME MORE POLARIZED

I don’t agree with Rob Goldberg’s statement that Haines Alaska News is polarizing our community.

Any “Polarizing” has been accomplished by a long-term dedication to disseminating of misinformation and “slanted” reporting by various organizations and the Chilkat Valley News (CVN). Luckily for our community, CVN recognizes that it is in a conflicting position as its editor has admitted to his strong “environmental” leanings,  but also recognizes that for his business to survive he needs continued income from advertising sources, which helps keep CVN struggling towards the “middle” ground.

Rob and his friends have expressed a strong voice within CVN, but Haines News was created as a way to counter-balance and provide a conservative view so our community was not totally misguided on issues.

I believe Rob’s group has been instrumental in creating the precarious economic situation impacting all of Haines by working against tourism, hydropower, heli-skiing and even a road from Juneau.

The HainesNews.net organization provides a much needed balance to Haines news sources to ensure our community understands the various issues and receives an education from many perspectives so we can make intelligent decisions which impact all of us.

Why is it that Rob’s group always points its finger away from itself?

I think the comma should have been left off the title of his letter which probably would have described the situation much more accurately.   “The Community Has Become More Polarized by Rob Goldberg!”
